To the other political scientists/historians out there, do we have previous examples of the absolute personal disdain/hostility (including refusal to meet 1-1) between an Alberta Premier and a federal cabinet minister as exists with Smith regarding Guilbeault?
I have not read of Lougheed saying the same things about Marc Lalonde even at the height of the NEP? Kenney clearly did not like Guilbeault, but never used the language that Smith repeatedly uses.
@DuaneBratt Leaving aside language, Dr. Bratt, do you recall a Minister or government treating AB so poorly? The NEP was outrageous, of course, but this is an existential threat devoid of any sound policy objective, isn't it? x.com/trevortombe/st…

@DuaneBratt The only thing I can think of that is comparable is Harper's refusal to meet Kathleen Wynne - Premier of Ontario, but I don't remember Harper using the same public language that Smith uses for Guilbeault.
@DuaneBratt There was this. cbc.ca/news/politics/…
@DuaneBratt Guilbeault is also quite the lightning rod in Ontario, FWIW. Doug Ford has no love for him at all.
