Basically every single tapering study that maintained exercise intensity and dropped volume sufficiently (~40-80% drop) for ~1-4 weeks has shown performance improvements. It's beyond reproach at this point.
@DrAndyGalpin Performance improvements for one event, say the test of the study? Or sustained performance improvements measured over more than 1 testing moment?
@DrAndyGalpin Aka Lyle was right, 20+ years ago, example 10 bazillion
@DrAndyGalpin This is part of the case for periodized low volume? Or persistent low volume?
@DrAndyGalpin Any difference in the kind of tapering protocols recommended for strength vs endurance performance? Also, do you have any good recommendations of summaries or meta-studies about this topic?
@DrAndyGalpin I have anecdotal evidence to support it. Thanks Dr.
