Did X just remove Communities?! 😱 You probably didn't notice, and that's why I've made it a point of duty to rub it in your faces. 😂 Did X shut down Communities? Yes. Does X still support the idea of communities? Yes. Now, before you come for my head, an official announcement was made on April 23 about X deprecating its Communities feature and moving community-based group interaction towards XChat. Why? Because apparently, we weren't using it enough! 😭 Communities were used by less than 0.4% of X users, yet they contributed to about 80% of spam reports, financial scams, and malware reports on the platform. So... they had to go. Are there still some communities? Apparently yes, but the may soon be wiped out. Would there be new Communities? No. You can no longer create an X Community. But does that mean X left us stranded? Nope. 👀 X introduced XChat group chats with joinable links, allowing people to create public group chats that can be shared on their timeline. X initially increased the group-chat capacity to 500 members, with plans to reach 1,000. So if you're already a community owner on X, the move is simple: Don't wait until your community disappears.. Start thinking about where your people will gather, create your XChat group, and begin moving your members. Because community didn't disappear. The room changed. And if you're a community builder, you need to change with it. You've read a lot about X now.
