Mohsen Mahdawi is 34 years old. He first enrolled at Birzeit University in the West Bank in 2008 and studied there for six years. In 2018 he enrolled as an undergraduate at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He stayed there until 2021, and never earned a credential despite enrolling as a seventh year senior and being a full time student there for four years. Despite this extremely suspicious academic record, he was admitted as a transfer to Columbia University — a school which rejects over 97% of applicants — where he attended as an undergraduate for another four years. Columbia’s rules explicitly state that students must be progressing toward an on-time graduation, but they accepted Mahdawi as an eleventh year undergraduate and allowed him to remain a student in good standing even though he was evidently not maintaining a full course load. His student status was a pretext; he was acting as a full-time anti-American, anti-Jewish and pro-terrorism activist. Since he claims to be a Palestinian refugee, it is unclear who was paying his tuition or providing for his rent and expenses in New York City while he was engaged in subverting American institutions. He finally earned a bachelor’s degree in May 2025 from one of the top five American universities after 17 years as an undergraduate and was accepted to a master’s program at Columbia even though the State Department was already trying to deport him on national security grounds. Democrats at every level fought hard to keep him in the country.

Iran Revisited Iran today launched missiles at American bases in three countries including Jordan and the Gulf countries. They had a choice and they chose clearly to message to the United States that they are in charge here. That they control the Strait and the world economy and the Iranian people. This is after Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel and Iran operated to try to shield Hezbollah from its actions, and that seemed to work for them. Then they thought they could do the same directly against the United States and they are now pushing the president to the limit with bellicose statements and missile firings to boot. First, they fired 40 missiles at Israel and after Israel responded they stopped. But against the US they are continuing the battle and so testing the US, putting it in a reverse economic squeeze over oil prices. The president has to decide now — stick with primarily the blockade that is a slow burn keeping oil high, continue to believe there is a deal to be made and ignore the Iranians’ actions, or go another round of kinetic action to re-establish a stronger position. At this juncture the Iranians have given up nothing, are acting to preserve their proxies and are firing missiles all over the place. One wonders what we are waiting for.

Maximum support to Iranians to take back their country. This needs to be a central pillar of our Iran strategy. There is a plan. Implement it.

Nine weeks today into the Iran “ceasefire,” Iran is still attacking the U.S. and our allies. The regime has spent the last 63 days absorbing economic pain while rebuilding what was destroyed, restoring its position, and dragging out negotiations. President Trump faces a choice: continue chasing a deal that may never come, or back decisive military action, open up Hormuz, and launch a maximum-support campaign for the Iranian people against the regime.

Pro-Israel influencers cannot agree on lunch let alone how to influence Washington. The President’s problem is not their coordination but one of the more ridiculous convergences in recent memory. Iran Hawks in Washington are anxious about Trump not going through with dissolving outstanding Iran file threats and US deterrence. That’s amplified by an Iranian diaspora desperate to help out their fellow Iranians living under the yoke of the Islamic Republic’s brutal tyranny. Pro-Israel narratives converge on the same anxieties from a regional security standpoint. The progressive left, the center left, the Obama Bros, the Biden Bros, and the IRGC’s own propagandists are only too happy to frame this as “Trump‘s defeat”. That’s the problem. Everybody’s just chomping at the bit to jump on this bandwagon. It’s a tragicomic horseshoe of its own. The fact that you went to “blame the Jews” instead of mustering two rusty pennies worth of analytic insight doesn’t make you antisemitic. No sir. It just makes you unfit to advise anyone on anything.
