A serious question for my US friends. Are you worried that The Supreme Court has stripped the right to mass protest in 3 states? The #RightToProtest is in your #1stAmendment for a reason. From across the pond I am aghast.
Given the billions in damages done and lives lost in the riots of the Trump years organized groups whose sole purpose is organizing protests as revolution should have some liability. The right to peaceably assemble and seek redress of grievances does not cover burning cities down or murder. What is funny is exactly this legal theory is being advocated to go after Trump for J6. The leftist all up in arms that they might catch some liability for the molotovs don't see the irony in what they are advocating for at the federal level which would be all 50 states.
@JBelcourt73 But Raver, there are laws that already cover that, very strict laws! Stopping all protests is not the way to do it, as you well know my friend! As said what was burned to the ground? "Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist"
@DMBrookfield @JBelcourt73 THIS I personally know ppl who got six years for peacefully sitting in front of a Caterpillar at a pipeline construction site. No threatening. No fires. Just blocked construction while they were unchained and hauled away Six years
@DMBrookfield @JBelcourt73 And we’ve restricted our right to protest too . We must worry about this and resist. It’s a slippery slope to authoritarianism. We’ve seen this happen several times in history and it’s never ended well
