A serious question for my US friends. Are you worried that The Supreme Court has stripped the right to mass protest in 3 states? The #RightToProtest is in your #1stAmendment for a reason. From across the pond I am aghast.
Given the billions in damages done and lives lost in the riots of the Trump years organized groups whose sole purpose is organizing protests as revolution should have some liability. The right to peaceably assemble and seek redress of grievances does not cover burning cities down or murder. What is funny is exactly this legal theory is being advocated to go after Trump for J6. The leftist all up in arms that they might catch some liability for the molotovs don't see the irony in what they are advocating for at the federal level which would be all 50 states.
@DMBrookfield I'm not clear on the circumstances of this case. Sounds like a violent protest wound up in serious injury to a police officer, and the officer wished to sue the protest organizer. I think this case is about holding an organizer liable for injury to the officer.
@DMBrookfield Yees, thanks to the GOP appointed justices the Supreme Court is now thoroughly corrupt. Something must be done.
@DMBrookfield Two thoughts (1) not surprised (2) it was always this way in states w/ Jim Crow in effect. In fact it was and STILL IS in effect in states near me. Peaceful protestors got six years for trying to block a pipeline. Their offense? Lying down in front of / chaining to a Caterpillar
