Also pulled out as a part of this mass exodus. I'd love for us to have a discussion on how we can move forward. I think @ComicConAfrica provides a massive opportunity for our community, but I think they are well-established enough now for us to see an increase in standards.
Out of respect for what is happening to other creators, I've formally pulled out of CCCT. I was really excited about what I had planned along with rad @nibbleafrica content but some things are bigger than business. I really hope this leads to effective change & not just bashing.
@Thea_Booysen I don't think so considering this exact situation happened last year. Creators were told they were going to be given one thing and were delivered single day passes (I only remember because I had many friends express their disappointment). Only after complaints were thing amended.
We received an official response from @ComicConCPT. I'm sharing it here, since the entire South African community deserves to be part of the conversation. Personally, I appreciate the change to 5 day passes. I assume this will be permanent going forward, and not just a hush…
Being a speaker at CCA used to get you a full multi day ticket. Now it’s only one ticket on the day you speak 🫠 I didn’t buy any weekend tickets since I was told not to worry (back in January already) 😬 Oh and non of the content creators get promoted on socials or get paid 💀

Very sad about this, but I have also come to this decision. I have volunteered my time every year at Comic Con as a show of goodwill to the community, and it has felt like what little compensation was given to us has degraded over the years despite being asked to do more for it.
