I know several people who left big tech around 2022 to go try their hand at blue collar businesses. All but 1 are now back in big tech. I nod earnestly when I tell them “yeah who knew that cash flowing a laundromat in Sacramento would be harder than earning $236,000 and a 20% annual bonus for checking 17 slack messages per day?”

@healthcareandy It's highly likely a different type of customer. Those who go online-first can be very different from those who shop in-store (and could still pick that based on some measure of a brand-recall). No reason not to try and expand customer base, me thinks.

@Austen @darrenchait Doesn’t work for everyone and everywhere. The entirety of some jobs involve understanding what everyone else around the org is doing / hearing out discussions. Notes don’t work well for that. Most generalizations aren’t ever accurate anyways. 🤷‍♂️
