We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests until the PISA in HS & they outperform us every time. When we can’t give students more recess, play, or Arts, but make them sit longer hours, we have it wrong!

We need to challenge the narrative that children who don’t meet the KS2 standard “can’t read” To claim a child scoring 100 can read, but a child scoring 99 can’t read, is a nonsense.

For the first time since 2019 today’s KS2 SATs results will be published in a format that can be easily manipulated into crude league tables to rank schools using a single metric. Headlines like the one below are damaging, and do not help schools or parents. @NAHTnews

This year will see the return of crude league tables to rank schools using a single metric. The Government had an opportunity to present school performance data in a format that informs parents, but makes it challenging for the press to produce damaging reports like the one below. Sadly, they have chosen a return to the pre-pandemic status quo.

BREAKING A primary school in Cambridge has managed to get its Inadequate grading overturned with Ofsted accepting the report is unreliable. Queen Emma School said it’s headteacher had suicidal thoughts after the inspection
