In September, we began requiring that new contributors unlock the ability to write notes by first making valuable ratings. This increased average note quality so much that, today, we are retroactively requiring that all contributors meet these criteria in order to write notes.
Contributors spend time and energy rating notes. Today’s change means the typical note that contributors see and rate will be of substantially higher quality, making better use of all that time and energy.
How will this work? If you were admitted to Community Notes before September and you’ve earned a Rating Impact score of 5+, or a Writing Impact score of 1+, you’ve unlocked writing ability — thank you for the great contributions! 🙌
If you haven’t earned that impact yet, you can unlock writing ability by earning a Rating Impact of 5. Details:
As always, we appreciate the feedback from contributors that drove this change and many others. If you are interested in becoming a contributor, sign up here: x.com/i/flow/join-bi…
@CommunityNotes Can you please explain why I can’t become a contributor? I faced a 7-day suspension for using the word p. a n. s y. in relation to a person who would use a self-drive car rather than drive themselves. The suspension said it was due to “hateful conduct.” This was one+ year ago.
@CommunityNotes I used to be able to see and rate @CommunityNotes and now I’m unable. What’s up with that?
@CommunityNotes My only feedback is that notes within topics that don’t have a lot of contributors are basically like writing a note into the void. There’s no potential for helpful because no one else is engaged on the topic.
@CommunityNotes Just wondering why all comments responding to @RealFlokiInu under Elons tweets always get deleted? There’s usually a negative that doesn’t get deleted responding to #Floki. It’s been a year of this, #Twitter should resolve this issue. 🙏
@CommunityNotes This is really unfair. I feel like I am getting blocked out of participating and I have seen a few misleading notes. I get a distinct impression that community notes is going to be the same abusiveness as Wikipedia and Facebook fact checkers. I'm just going to have to make my own
@CommunityNotes Community Notes, I'm not eligible to become a contributor because I -Said antichoice people need to move beyond putting pregnant people into either raped or sl*t category. -Said someone to someone they should jump off a bridge (since they don't believe in scientific laws).
@CommunityNotes 3/ Why should this disqualify me? You are woefully understaffed, and I believe I would take the position seriously. Please reconsider your position.
@CommunityNotes How do we know how we are doing as far as rating notes and becoming contributors? We just keep rating as we see notes , then just wait without knowing our progress?
@CommunityNotes There are a lot of tweets I have seen that I think need notes Ones that make false claims or need context from both sides of the political spectrum
