From what I can see the grant allocated to my school funds just over 1% of the cost of a 6.5% pay rise. I just want to be able to run the school safely, with enough resources and look after the amazing team there. I don't want to be repeatedly told one thing and offered the other

Honestly, I try so hard to look at teacher pay dispassionately. I take into account retention data & the wider economy & the political view. @MaryBoustedNEU regularly chides me for being too fair. But, jeez, they’ve managed to make this pay deal feel like a total gut punch.

The only real ways to do this are: (1) Reduce timetabled hours (by reducing 1265 hours directive) (2) Reduce class sizes (to reduce marking & follow-up) (3) Ban central data drops (4) Remove safeguarding/pastoral requirements on schools But are they credible? Desirable?
