The entire Cardinals family is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer and World Series champion manager Whitey Herzog at the age of 92.
Whitey Herzog managed the Cardinals for parts of 11 seasons from 1980-90, leading the team to three National League pennants and the 1982 World Series title. 'Whiteyball', as it came to be known in St. Louis, placed an emphasis on strong pitching and defense, speed on the basepaths, and contact hitting. He was inducted into the @baseballhall in 2010 and the Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2014.
@Cardinals Rest easy Whitey. A True legend
@Cardinals This is a nice tribute but to point out his skin color seems unnecessary.
@Cardinals Great with Royals. Even better with the Cards. RIP Whitey. 1985 was still yours.
@Cardinals RIP to the legend, Mr. Herzog. From a Braves fan
@Cardinals @KirkHerbstreit What a legend & an amazing career ❤️
