No amount of "nice" makes an unsafe person safe. No amount of "sorry" makes a person who doesn't understand or believe they did something hurtful, safe. No amount of "but they're family" makes an unsafe person safe.
Please be patient with people who don’t know how to explain their feelings. Many of them grew up in homes where no matter what they said or how they said it, they were never heard. Their inability to share is often a reflection of that past hurt. Again, patience please.
"But they're your family" hits way too hard for those whose only chance to heal is to make sure their family is not involved.
Stop telling people to forgive those who fucked up their life and showed them no remorse.
