@adamboxer1 #11 Assuming all retrieval practice should be the first activity of the lesson. Neurobiologically, ‘warm activation ’ eg anything which primes the information you want students to remember, will activate associated memories - leading to more accurate ‘retrieval’.
Highly recommend. Whether trainee or experienced - the antithesis of reducing teaching to info in, retrieval out. Not only for Biologists - read this to think deeply about how meaningful learning evolves + practical teacher guidance to bring this to life with (not at) students.

@HughesHaili @teacherhead I feel the same as @DrRLofthouse, frustrating this message still needs repeating. Years ago the shift was made (or maybe not) to learning - the observer being extra eyes/ears on students’ learning - to collaborate for mutual improvement. Esp since obs is so flawed.
@CMooreAnderson Let’s be clear, constructivist strategies (though not all) sit poorly with formal education and assessment metrics. Not with learning.
