It’s hilarious to read claims “it’ll take Tesla 10years to catch up with Boston dynamics’ software.” They missed the whole last decade of ML/AI revolution. The best in robotics are working in the direction of Tesla in promising startups. BD will pivot too otherwise be irrelevant

Clueless. It is a pipeline: beginning shows Optimus working autonomously after trained. The 44s shows the supervised training setup. The video shows that Tesla can iterate on the pipeline to achieve multiple tasks. With simulation &others it will handle more tasks. 🛑10% nonsense

dojo actually makes up 25% of all training compute. Not small. There are additional challenges for dojo than h100, but once solved they can be less constrained by TSMC capacity because it relies on different tech than gpu. Next gen dojo is in the work and will pay off big time

Tesla pure vision auto park is working nicely. If there’s a complaint, it’d be its current speed. This will however improve with time because of richer training data and more efficient planner. An interesting question is whether @Tesla_AI differentiates MLmodels on Tesla models🤔

Speak with data instead of mumbling about your opinion. Data points exist at Spacex, X, and Teslas history. This happened before. You have never run any company close to 500 people let alone at this scale. Stop this overly simplified linear way of thinking.

A sticky point on fsd in china is the training infra due to chip restriction. Dojo provides a potential solution. Another is local providers that cost more but is prob still highly viable. Plus, with time, fsd may generalize and not need local data. Let’s see how it develops

The progress of fsd will follow similar trend as these examples. With enough compute and data and right approach, I called Tesla getting exponentially near the end game last July. Now everything is ready and progress is fast. Soon I believe it will approach ave human. However …

Doubt you did much research on some. E.g., Optimus software 5%? What does it even mean or evidence/research is it based on? Also, common sense does not necessarily work for the uncommon. Few common people expected alphago, ChatGPT, fsd v12, llama70b, but I’ll go over them later

What Jim describes however makes sense. Think of current fsd as system 1, but sometimes we need system 2. In a supervised robotaxi scenario, such system 2 components can learn to deal with particularly challenging situations, which helps final march of 9s.

Adding language interface is useful , but ‘deep integration’ with llm is highly unlikely. Llm deals with words but visual is info richer. Plus, integrating llm requires huge training and inference cost. Best llm also hallucinates. Not happenings anytime soon.
