Earlier in the week, I had a BPD meltdown on a train. I was visibly distressed, crying uncontrollably & hyperventilating loudly. The people sitting around me didn’t say anything to me & I’m wondering why. Fear? Shame? Confusion? ✨Saying something can save lives.✨

If you have #borderlinepersonalitydisorder you likely experience your emotions more intensely than others. And others may have a hard time understanding that. Dr. Linehan described the experience of intense emotions for people with #BPD as like having 3rd degree emotional burns.

@HealingFromBPD I tell people casually when it’s appropriate. I don’t hide it and I don’t have it tattooed to my forehead. I deal with the stigma and know I am not what others have generalized this disorder to be.

@TalkingAboutBPD I don’t have one yet. I think I will end up getting one in the future since I usually end up piling folded blankets on top of me to feel that sense of weight and restriction. It works in a pinch for me and the blankets I have, but it gets hot very quickly.
