@HondaWang Dollar vans aren’t competition for public buses. They are working class mass transit in place of uber which is too expensive. We should be more concerned about reining in uber/lyft than dollar cabs which actually have a purpose for working class communities.

@HondaWang Assume you are thinking that they are the lineage of scab dollar vans from the 80’s strike but that’s far from the case. Dollar vans filled needs that public transit wasn’t serving. why not go after uber than dollar vans? dollar vans aren’t trying to kill public transit like uber

@pcdkd @HondaWang Have you ridden a dollar van? It’s an experience, you see the same folks on it all the time. the drivers know the customers by name. better buses is good but DV still serveq purpose esp for elderly riders where it drops you off right where you want to be.

@broseph_stalin Yeah but why aren’t you talking about the part where Zohran is pushing privatization of public housing. as a tenant organizer, tenant takeover is great but i’m not selling out public housing. no socialist should. That’s the bigger story here. NYC needs public housing to be public

@ideologicalized @nodisplacement We would not have ballooned to the 78 billion number if BY state dems didn’t also neglect funding NYCHA and pretending that only the federal government funds it. yes it funds majority but Albany and city budgets have funded PACT up to 8 billion

@ideologicalized @nodisplacement Not everyone lives on twitter. i’m not ignoring you but just do the math, if Zohran put 2 billion of city budget, section 9 received about 1.3 billion for repairs from federal gov this year. albany needs to just add another 700 million. Hochul funded PACT for more than that.

@ideologicalized @nodisplacement Just to make it easier for you to comprehend, the MTA repairs are estimated at 68 billion. nobody asks for fully funding that immediately or that we need to privatize the MTA to fund it. and we don’t say well don’t give the MTA 3 billion this year because they need 68.

@ideologicalized @nodisplacement You can see though in Zohran’s policy lnguage on website, it’s already rebranding neiliberal policy of selling off public land in NYCHA to private developers. thats been a policy for decades called infill/various other names, one that’s been highly opposed.

I remember clearly when Build back better bill was pushing for PH funding how these same people weaponized the 60 billion number

@phara4assembly @saoirsefashion But this is assuming that newer housing stock is built nicely. i’ve seen worse apartments less than 15 years than 100 year old buildings. You can’t just assume new equals better quality in fact often it doesn’t. Housing is more complicated than underwear.

@briebriejoy in critiquing PTA obsessed folks, seems like the issue as well is that they are ignoring the brilliance of sinners. and some are but also a lot of people loved both. Comparing films just because they are in competition for some golden statue, is ultimately unfair for both films.

@briebriejoy I get it PTA glazing is annoying but that become the reason to hate the film and not the film itself. It’s funny how this video that’s 50 minutes long dissecting all the meaning in the film demonstrates it’s dealing with ideas that 99% of hollywood films don’t.
