General question for allistic people - Have you ever corrected information that you've said to someone, when it wouldn't impact anyone at all, just because it bothered you that it wasn't 100% true?
@AutSciPerson everyday, every minute, almost an involuntary reaction. sorry I should clarify that was a slight exaggeration on my part. for me I've rationalised my behaviour as important, would it possibly harm the other person in the long run to allow misconception or misunderstanding to run
@AutSciPerson All the time. I feel guilty for accidentally lying and potentially them seeing me as a horrible person for lying in the first place them never trusting me or enjoying me again because I lied. I hate it.
@AutSciPerson Being sincere is important to me to the point that I think it often becomes a social handicap. So, I often have a problem hiding it if a person is making me upset or annoyed for any reason.
@AutSciPerson Yes! Definitely. I hate it when I have said something that turned out to be not correct. (But am I really 'allistic'....is something I may wish to correct at some point...).
@AutSciPerson I'm not yet diagnosed but yep. I can't help it.
@AutSciPerson Yep. Not autistic, but I'm bipolar with cPTSD and anxiety w/probable ADHD. So my brain's not "normal" :)
@AutSciPerson I resisted messaging my friend whose husband said you couldn’t compost teabags. I checked on the council website. Does this make me allistic 🤣
@AutSciPerson Of course! I'm usually the first to admit when I'm wrong. Even if it doesn't matter, it matters to me. ADHDer, pretty sure I'm allistic.
