Not an easy one tonight…in general, I think it’s more likely we’re dry than wet…and forecast has been improving through the week…but there will be some storms in the area this evening so it’s a radar-watching kind of day #IndyCar #Bommarito500
Here at WWT Raceway, we can’t control everything, but we try to be ready to react to anything. In anticipation of possible precipitation, we’ve pulled in additional support to limit our delay time. Yes - we have the Air Tundra system which is basically a squeegee made of air. It pushes out compressed air at 568 miles per hour and can dry the surface area of a football field in less than 20 seconds! In addition, we have jet dryers from Total Venue Concepts and the NHRA, buffalo blowers, broom tractors and a fleet of vacuum trucks. In just 10 years the technology for track drying has sped up the process by 2.5 times! WWT Raceway EVP and GM Chris Blair put together this quick video to show you the track drying toys. @indycarfan25 Can’t blame this one directly on IndyCar. There are other suppliers of things that can influence a decision like this. Just so folks are aware. But like you, I also think we should have had the same package as last year. But it’s not always that simple sadly.
