Alongside the lack of good evidence Cass has highlighted, there’s a fundamental question that everyone needs to answer before arguing for medical interventions to help the “trans child”. And the TRAs have never been able to provide an answer to this: How do you identify the “trans child”? How do you differentiate the “trans child” from someone who’s just struggling with puberty, life in general, their identity, or is suffering from other mental health conditions? What are the diagnostic criteria? And it can’t be self-diagnosis at that young an age.
@colwight This seems to be especially true of the recent surge in girls identifying as trans. We know that adolescent girls are susceptible to groupthink and that a large % of those seeking help now will not have GD in a few years. How do we divert these girls from irreversible treatment?
@AlexSmith90014 @colwight It seems to be on the decline in many schools. The kids are turning away from it. Boring. Problem is with teachers who still push it.

@AlexSmith90014 @colwight Not necessarily just groupthink... Girls are also far more likely to have negative body images going through puberty than boys.
@AlexSmith90014 @colwight High quality talking therapies would be a good start. Unfortunately, TRA claim that this is "conversion therapy" and are trying to make it illegal in the UK, as they've already done in other countries 😢
@AlexSmith90014 @colwight Tackle transphobia. The desperation to transition irreversibly is in large part due to the transphobic lines than have been drawn regarding sex and gender. If everyone would be less rigid and hateful in their concept of sex and gender, there’d be more room for them to work
@AlexSmith90014 @colwight it out. You see it with sexuality. You used to have to come out and know exactly “what” you are because there was so much opposition and hate that it felt like a big deal. Now kids are more free with their labels and less bothered with being exactly right about their identity.
@AlexSmith90014 @colwight Puberty is hard on girls. I remember wearing huge shirts trying to hide my body. I’m sure it’s hard on boys too.
