I agree. The corollary to this is that when that well-maintained managed service sends you an email about "an update to our pricing," that boosts your costs fivefold, you begin rethinking things super quickly.
We live in an age of “just do it for me.” If I can find a well-maintained managed service that does something and does it well, I’ll use it 99 times out of 100. It's almost always a better product than if I built it myself anyways.
