@eeyanmiller @4thDegreeTears We also took into consideration that paternity leave is traditionally 12 weeks in the US. So starting at 2 weeks postpartum allowed for a few more weeks of therapy before women returned back to work. #fpmrschat
A2: This was such a novel and thoughtful approach. As stated in A1, I typically refer starting at 6 wks but as @4thDegreeTears pointed out, you need to be able to trust your #PT provider and so starting at 2 weeks for education and foundation-building is a great idea! #fpmrschat

@abi_carey As a male nurse I never catheterised a female patient, there was always a female colleague available. It was unwritten rule that if a male nurse was on duty they do male catheters and females would do the ladies. Best for patient dignity & best for female colleagues. No drama

For many reasons this cause is near and dear to my ❤️. I would love to be able to model some of the higher volume clinics across the country!

@eeyanmiller @4thDegreeTears We also took into consideration that paternity leave is traditionally 12 weeks in the US. So starting at 2 weeks postpartum allowed for a few more weeks of therapy before women returned back to work. #fpmrschat

@FPMRSJournal A4: Agree with the above comment. Also, I try to stay away from using "normal" during patient counseling encounters as this applies the existence of "abnormal" when it is truly all on a spectrum and it's difficult to define what "normal" should be! #fpmrschat
@FPMRSJournal A5: We are lucky to have an incredible group of physical therapists at @OHSUWomens but we are a large referral center serving many rural communities and often lack of access, long wait times, and issues with insurance coverage are BIG deterrents. #fpmrschat

Although we do not have a standard referral clinic, I do see patients who are referred to my clinic after OASI and can perform endoanal ultrasound because of incredible training from @TomGregoryPDX.
