I talked to @KitOConnell for this piece in the @TexasObserver about importance of cleaning the air to reduce risk of infection with airborne pathogens texasobserver.org/long-covid-tex…
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver It’s a normal thing for surgeons to desinfect their hands thanks so Semmelweis. In the future it will be normal to have air cleaners. It’s important we shift perspective to this topic.
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver 1973 (EPA) : HEPA filtration of all recirculated air is the epidemiological key to halting aerosol transmission of viral induced infection, allergy, and asthma among human hosts sharing a closed environment. Nineteenhundred seventy three. More than 50 years lost.
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver BE WISE....WEAR N95..... PREVENT INFECTIONS 😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver Thank you @zalaly for your efforts to educate people on this issue!! I would like to see a study comparing attendance data for schools that have not implemented IAQ measures versus one that has installed top notch systems such as attended by former WH Covid coordinator’s kids.🧐
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver Looking forward to chatting with you about it if you’re still up for it!
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver Can we talk about the role school buses are playing? Students can be 4X more likely to be infected that ride the bus over those that dont. 70% of infections are coming from schools. If we address school buses we make a massive dent in community spread.
@zalaly @KitOConnell @TexasObserver I’m from Texas originally and my family still lives there and I’m truly shocked at how culturally resistant they are to infection control. It’s going to be an uphill battle in the state of “rugged individualism”
