True leadership by Austrian physicians “COVID-19 is not a cold. It is not influenza. It is a systemic, vascular-damaging disease that only spreads via the respiratory route, via aerosols. COVID is neither over, nor is it a harmless infection without consequences.” Read🧵below

@zalaly Would you be prepared to join our initiative? It would be great since a large part of our arguments is based on your outstanding research.
@zalaly “True leadership by Austrian PHYSICIANS”… sure some may be, but my quick verification into 4-5 of them mention how many are psychiatrists, one has his PhD and is a professor of media studie??I didn’t see one ID specialist or immunologist so far…
@zalaly Oh physicians.. ya they don’t have any trust anymore, like politicians.
Dear Dr Al-Aly Let’s discuss this properly shall we? Several studies were conducted to investigate the potential organ damage caused by Covid, many of these studies were conducted in Wuhan at the alleged time of the Covid outbreak. The majority of these issues were self resolving, within days and while in hospital. The patients monitored tended to be a lot older and it is extremely difficult (actually almost impossible) to determine what their existing conditions were before testing positive for Covid. A study published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine in February 2021 analyzed 3,762 COVID-19 patients and found that 55% of them had evidence of damage to at least one organ, with the most common being the heart (39%), kidneys (31%), and lungs (29%). The study reported that the median time for resolution of lung damage was 6.6 days, with 64% of patients showing improvement by the end of the study period. A study published in JAMA Cardiology in September 2020 examined 100 recovered COVID-19 patients and found that 78% had ongoing cardiac involvement, even though they had no pre-existing heart conditions. The study found that among the recovered COVID-19 patients with cardiac involvement, 71% showed improvement in cardiac function over a median follow-up period of 71 days. A study published in the journal Radiology in September 2020 analyzed chest CT scans of 413 COVID-19 patients and reported that 55% of them showed signs of lung damage, such as ground-glass opacities and consolidation. The study focused on the identification and characterization of lung abnormalities rather than tracking their resolution. A study published in the journal Kidney International in May 2020 analyzed 5,449 hospitalized COVID-19 patients and found that 36.6% of them developed acute kidney injury, which indicates “potential” kidney damage. The study reported that among the COVID-19 patients who developed acute kidney injury, 46.3% had their kidney function improve during hospitalization. Each study can be found to be severely wanting in determining whether pre-conditions or Covid was directly responsible for the “organ damage” that was noted
@zalaly Majority think pandemic is over and crisis has passed. But desire for normalcy is sobered by a stealthy virus. We are not done with Covid and pandemic still have some twists to come. COVID risks are same as reckless driving, smoking and alcohol abuse..
@zalaly LC incidence rate of 0.2% according to most recent Swedish study 👈Talk about that…Yet you recycle the same Veteran’s data + attempt to extrapolate it to society at large and refuse to contextualize anything. You’re a very bad science communicator.
