It has been two years since I did coke, and perhaps the hardest thing to overcome in my journey to sobriety was the shame and stigma. Treating those who struggle with substance abuse with sympathy does not equate to endorsing drug abuse.
This isn't intended to be shade, I don't really pay attention to online discourse much anymore. But I'm seeing a lot of people on my tl talking about this with zero knowledge or experience, and so I wanted to share mine ok bye.
@yasminesummanx a bandmate died who i did hard drugs before. then when i saw the @Coheed guys i also grew up with (cambria is my sister irl) do drugs worse i was so mad cuz worried about them+ i had survivor's guilt but i was way too tough love and it instead pushed friends away for years, sadly
@yasminesummanx stigma can actually make people relapse and kill people who otherwise might be nurtured into recovery.
@yasminesummanx also be kind to yourself cuz as you prob already know it alters brain chemistry and literally takes awhile to feel happy again normally because of many factors. congrats on your efforts, for real.
@yasminesummanx Sobriety is a great thing, I’m so incredibly proud of you my friend 🖤
@yasminesummanx so important to say! congrats on 2 years of sobriety! 🤍
@yasminesummanx people don’t understand the difference between an addict masking their pain and someone “romanticizing drug use.” the latter isn’t really a thing.
@yasminesummanx Congratulations on two years of sobriety ☺️🖤 coming up on a similar milestone myself. Cheers to many more 🎊✨
@yasminesummanx Congrats on your two years of being clean! It couldn't have been easy, and I remember that there are people proud of your journey. Here's to three years! ^-^
