Just thinking about how we spent all summer debating who among the Red Wings, Senators or Sabres would make the playoffs this season and the answer ended up being "none of the above."
Also thinking about how in the year of our lord 2024, Alex Ovechkin is in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Sidney Crosby is not.
@wyshynski Also missing from the playoffs for the 47th year in a row? Your chin
@wyshynski And he'll be in said playoffs for about as long as he's been throughout most of his career save one season.
@wyshynski Yeah, who's the Hart candidate now?! Lindgren 4 Hart!!! Crosby trade rumors incoming! Also, Ovi scored at his career average 50-goal-season pace over the 2nd half of the season. People are sleeping on how good he's been since the All Star break.
@wyshynski Selling the farm for multiple cups has repercussions. You can’t be a playoff team for 20 years in a cap league. Crosby had a great year…but the team around him isn’t very good and they don’t have reinforcements on the way. The Pens need to lose again.
@wyshynski Did the Flyers ever ask Ottawa about bringing back Giroux? Would it have the team's moribund power play and possibly given G another playoff run with the team that drafted him? Or is he rooted with Ryanne in Ottawa now?
@wyshynski Our Devils are clearly the league's worst disaster - but the Penguins have to be second and they have a lot less hope. They are a team loaded with veteran talent and decent goaltending who managed to lose the easiest playoff race we'll ever see.
@wyshynski Shhhhhh ... don't bring up the 2-week stretch in early March when the Pens went 1-6-1 and Sid had 0g-2a and was (-12) Only the end of the season run counts. Can't ruin the Hart Trophy narrative .....
@wyshynski What if … Torts had known that DET/MTL had gone to overtime and eliminated PHI? What if he hadn’t pulled the goalie? Would WAS still win? Would DET? Or would PIT get in? Who will be our guide thru these other realities that we may follow and ponder the question... “What if?”
