If you’re a Black man, there’s nothing “routine” about a traffic stop. As the General Counsel of a major company, I was stopped because my car’s tinted windows were too dark. The officer wanted to know how I could afford such a car: Was I a drug dealer?
@wnoakes I got stopped 3 times by police, 2 times by a citizen, asking how I could afford my 2019 F-150 and if I stole it. Rented a Tesla Model 3 in Houston a couple months ago and was stopped there and asked if I had proof of ownership. 45 minutes later, they finally let me go.
@wnoakes Bill, i know that your story is very common. My best best, Steven Skinner, Global SVP for a global consulting company, experienced the same in his Tesla. Smartest, nicest, most honest person that i hv been blessed to know. He would ALWAYS say the same thing.
@wnoakes @Ash_Kalra Same happened to my ex-husband when he was driving our kids to elementary school. They stopped him a block from the school because they wanted to know how he afforded a Lexus. No traffic violation. No ticket was given.
