"Surveillance Pricing" is the latest corpo buzzword for squeezing consumers for every penny they have. Its entire goal is to process all the data they have about you to determine the maximum price you're willing to pay for something. And it's not just groceries, they'll do this for anything. They know the last time you bought toilet paper. They know you're running low and you need it, so they'll give you a higher price for it. Been searching the web for funeral topics and go to book a flight? This seems urgent, can't miss it. The ticket's gonna cost a little more for you. Suddenly started looking up info on taking care of a newborn? Unfortunately due to market conditions, the price of diapers just went up. Only for you though. Every term you search, every purchase you make, every product you look at for longer than the rest, everything you do online, ALL of that is recorded to make more money. So if you're one of those people who keeps saying "why should I care if they know I looked at toothpaste? Let them track me!", maybe being the sucker who's paying more than everyone else can convince you to be more careful with your data.
