For me, a key quality I seek in a partner is financial literacy and an appreciation for the value of $. It’s not just about how much one earns, but rather how one manages & respects their financial resources and the only way to start to understand that is by making real $ on your own, not dependent on others, esp family. Understanding the importance of financial responsibility is absolutely crucial, for me it has always been a deal breaker. It’s not solely about wealth, but more about the ability to handle finances wisely and make informed decisions. In a relationship, this quality is vital because it speaks volumes about a person’s ability to plan, prioritize, and prepare for the future. It’s about being sensible with spending, saving for a rainy day, and investing in the future. This is not just for their own well-being, but also for the health of the relationship too. Having a partner who is financially smart means building a life together on a stable foundation. It’s about teamwork in achieving shared goals, whether it’s buying a home, planning for a family, or simply ensuring a comfortable life. It’s about finding someone who understands that $, while not the most important thing in life, is an important tool that, when used wisely, can create opportunities, provide security, and support your dreams. This alignment in financial values & goals is, for me, is the foundation of a strong and lasting relationship. (Of course without real love, none of this matters, but that’s a post I will be making on its own)
