@john_clayjohn@JuanManuelCos16@godotengine It wasn't 150 times of people saying it sucks. A huge chunk of it was legitimate discussion about benchmarking techniques, potential fixes, solutions, etc...
This does a huge disservice to the people who were volunteering their time to highlight this aspect of the engine.
@duroxxigar@godotengine The problem I keep seeing is that every time a proposal raises some criticism about development issues or the lack of roadmaps, it gets close. It shouldn't since its a good place of discussion
@Saulcava1@godotengine Agree to close it? Wicked only really ever went off topic when someone else did and he was just responding to them. Some off topic, that is fine. That is a natural flow of conversation. Reminding people to get back on topic is the right approach, not shutting conversation down.
@duroxxigar@godotengine I don't even understand the logic here. It was closed as "completed" because comments went off-topic. But almost none? of the issues pointed out by original post were solved. Seems like I can't even give thumbs down for this questionable decision because github blocks emojis now.
@john_clayjohn@JuanManuelCos16@godotengine This isn't actually tenable for many people though. Throughout the thread, many suggestions were levied at possible fixes. If the takeaway from that thread was just "lightmapper sucks", that isn't encouraging at all to do deep dives for Godot. Because it was far more than that.

I remember working on this with NetEase over covid, they did not pay for the work I did at the end and it was one of the most directionless project I've ever had the misfortune of working on.
Most of the feedback during concept boiled down to: "look at this thing from this other thing and copy it." At one point the reference image provided was literally a piece of concept art that was trending on artstation on that same day smfh
Back then I was young and hungry. This goes out to all younger artists in this industry, don't ever do "free" art tests. If you're good enough then you deserve to be payed for your time. Any work you do during these "tests" are company properties and could be used in the end.

I don't like AI, it's stealing work, but people who are anti-AI saying it looks like shit is just silly - it doesn't totally, it looks lifeless, but let's not pretend it's not impressive. that doesn't mean it's good, but c'mon, nobody will listen to us if we talk like that
