Guys, yes. This IS what you should say. Part of the reason it's important to establish we're an incredibly affluent society is that it's a lot easier to argue we should share the pie when people understand the pie is growing.
This is why the left's insistence that there's widespread doom and misery and poverty is so self-defeating! It might feel good in an owning-the-libs way, but it is both false and it predisposes people to try to hoard their own resources. Affluence enables generosity.

@whstancil Yep. We are historically very well off. The more cynicism we sow, the less likely we are to all get to partake of the wealth of modern living.
@whstancil This is ridiculous. Why would the people with the money feel any desire to give up money if they don't have to. Traditionally this has only happened when unions (or similar) are strong. Unions in America are incredibly weak.
