Sometimes I feel like there is something fundamental inside some liberals that makes them rule-followers, and no amount of explanation can ever make them stop perceiving politics as the art of getting permission. The notion of a dispute without an adjudicator breaks their brain
If Biden and the Supreme Court deadlock on the debt ceiling then there’s actually not any process we can follow to figure out the “correct” answer. There is no “correct” answer. One side will simply outmaneuver the other
@whstancil Crazy theory: I think it’s because too few centrist elite types have played pickup sports, where there is no ref and your behavior is what determines how fouls get punished. Organized soccer mom full child scheduling is the villain here!
@whstancil Gop understands power. Dems don’t (except when it comes to stomping out progressives)
@whstancil If Democrats come to believe the traits you are sensing are what win you elections, then you'll get a positive feedback loop of people being elected with those traits who then insist on other Dem leaders having those traits.
@whstancil Politics is the calculation of POWER. The GOP gets that very well and have for decades. In evolutionary biology, the Ds would not be the ones to survive.
@whstancil @thejb_stan It’s because democracy depends on strong institutions, and authoritarians subvert institutions. Therefore Democrats would tautologically try to operate democracy through institutions.
@whstancil Modern Liberals are inherent pacifists. That is why conservatives find it easy to mock and bully us.
@whstancil Middle class liberals are mostly middle management type professionals. They get in a lot of trouble not following rules unless they become Republicans then suddenly *poof!* rules don’t matter.
