Much more often I've met design engineers who studied design for a long time while already being programmers: so far (!) I think this is an easier path to becoming a design engineer. I feel that designers often try to make a visual prototype with code and forget about designing the product as a system... as a result, this prototype isn't suitable for testing hypotheses, only for showing interactive visualization. Maybe later we will have more advanced system-thinking LLMs in v0/bolt and the problem will go away more naturally. As for now, well, when I try to get help with the most basic things, asking 01 + sonnet to write, i.e. network layer for swift app proto, while making the rest of the client, I have shitty architecture that will cause lot's of troubles even with current dev. I think Figma Prototypes, Principle and Framer (before the pivot) better suited for quick prototypes, If you don't know how to code. But I hope it will change soon.

@shl - When designing, can't help but think Figma is just an interface on top of webgl canvas - Writing books in Ulysses? Just a fancy div contenteditable - Playing guitar through my Mood pedal? Just signal modulation and basic matrix transformations Everything is code these days

@cerpow GOAT! Well, Figma is based on webgl canvas, so adding a three.js spot light and a r3f postprocessing volumetric light probably would do a thing :)

Totally stuck with lighting in the dithering stream scene (there are two cones and raymarching). Illumination in typhoons is usually spiral, and here I can't do that because of the specifics of the dithering shader. This is the case when I initially overcomplicated the scene and now have to forget everything and start over from scratch :)

Several things to add: - Website / SEO doesn't work for game promotion, so publishers don't invest resources there. Store pages and social media are more important. - Players spend time in communities on Discord/Steam/Reddit, so it makes sense to publish activity specifically there. - Low salaries in game development (my friends who work at major gaming companies earn 2-3 times less than web developers). This applies to designers and frontend developers as well. - C-level technical specialists in these companies oversee both game dev and web dev. When I talked with game development companies, during technical interviews I was amazed at how poorly informed they were about the current state of web development. I heard that Larian is planning to increase the size of the frontend team. I hope they will be interested in collaboration with your amazing studio.

You're right, depends on the task. Typically WebGL outperforms SVG because of the GPU parallel processing, utilizing buffers, one time render instead of multiple renders with memory layers for intermediate results (element, texture, composing, postprocessing) and so on. It could be compared on the modern machine with one object on the scene but when it's multiple scenes, website content, animations... well, from my experience, it's 15-20fps vs 120fps Also, WebGL can cache shaders and textures in GPU memory instead of loading it and reprocessing each animation frame Anyway, looks amazing!

totally agree I've been living in Portugal for almost 3 years. After Spain or Turkey, everything seems very slow here. This is a disadvantage for any service interactions, but an advantage for mindful lifestyle. Yeah, many things here depend on friendly interactions. Fortunately, people are so open that they're ready to call you a friend after just one coffee cup. What helps: - speaking Portuguese - not pressuring people or scaring them with problems - people here often shut down after that and the situation goes on a long pause. You can offer to figure things out together or help. - not trying to pay or do something in advance: for some reason, this removes motivation - not rushing: I've found out that in Portugal everything gets done within three days. Three days is some kind of sacred number, after which people start feeling guilty and want to complete what they started - following up. This is customary here always and everywhere. I follow up with all services with exactly a 3-day frequency. It helps somehow

Experimenting with post-effects, shaders and chains of generators, oscillators (musical ones), and effects. Since this strongly reminds me guitar effects & synths, decided to make a playground in the form of a pedalboard. Will share later. @threejs #shaders #creativecoding
