WOMEN'S BOXING, Berlin, Germany, late 1940s DR. ZSCHIEGNER'S FIGHTING WOMEN LOTTI VS LILO Two of Dr. Z.'s women, dressed in bikinis. sports shoes, and boxing gloves, compete in an outdoor boxing match in a ring. LILO gets hit right in the face with a strong left by LOTTI. They are being watched by a third woman, possibly acting as referee and wearing a long skirt and a horizontally striped sweater. She could be Dr. Zschiegner's wife: Hilde Zschiegner, but we cannot be sure. The back of the photo gives more information. LOTTI (Charlotte, on the left) 112 pounds (50.8 kg) and is 26 years old, whereas LILO (Lieselotte, on the right) weights 120 pounds (54.4 kg) and is 25 years old. Whoever wrote the inscription says that this was "One of the hardest fights I ever saw". Presumably, this comment was written by Dr. Walter Zschiegner himself, who was a well-educated German gentleman and spoke and wrote English eloquently. Alternatively, it could have been written by Irving Klaw or by an American collector, however they would not have seen the fight themselves, so this comment would not really make sense. Also, we can read the Irving Klaw number W38 as well that this is an Agfa photo, and another number: 3566, we are not sure what this number indicated. Photo distributed by Irving Klaw in the USA. Bernard Kobel No. W38.
