Meet Ashay Bhave, an 23 year old Indian who designs shoes made entirely from trash. His company’s name is Thaely (in Hindi it means a plastic bag) and the mission of his company is to fight plastic pollution and improve people’s lives. A pair of sustainable sneaker is made from 12 recycled bottles and 10 plastic bags. The rubber sole is made from old shoe soles and tyres. It doesn’t just end there. The shoe box is embedded with basil seeds so that you can plant it in soil and get a fragrant basil plant. So more buying pesto from outside 😏. I wonder why can’t the established brands rethink and rebuild! This young entrepreneur is also helping the workers live a better life at better wages. The employees receive fair pay, fair working hours, regular breaks and also housing support. I found this concept unique and worthy of sharing. All I got to do now is to buy a pair.
