TCM now: Pretty women in pretty gowns. Happy sailorboys. 1949. Ah, a different world. Too bad they are all white. Still…kind of sweet.
@StephenKing I know this is off topic but can you settle a debate - do you consider listening to audiobooks to be reading? Thank you Sai King!
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing It is one of the best ways to read. Old school tales told, like around a campfire, and it forces you to pay attention.
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing I was a prolific reader when I was young, but then despite wanting to read, I had difficulty concentrating on reading for decades. Recently I got in to audiobooks, but I've felt like I am cheating(not reading), so I wanted to ask Stephen what he thought about them, now I know.👍
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing For people like me who have ADHD, trouble focusing- audio books have been the best thing ever. Have never been able to really enjoy books before so yes it counts
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing Audiobooks have changed my life. I'm dyslexic and reading for long periods of time is a chore. Audiobooks opened a whole new world for me.
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing For the people with vision problems, it’s the only way. I am so glad that that option is available to them.
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing I couldn’t handle the small print in American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J Robert Oppenheimer so I got the multi-disc audiobook. Listening to it brought every scene in the film back. Amazed how finely sculpted Nolan made his adaptation. 😲
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing Of course it is reading. You are ingesting the written word. People get too snobby about audiobooks. It's ludicrous, especially since one might learn the proper pronunciation of an unfamiliar word. Nada to prove by eschewing audiobooks. It's all good. #booksarelife
@vicky_vnelson @StephenKing Retired library person here. Of course it is reading.(but not for me, I'm a visual learner. Àudio for me does not work)
