Light it up Gold and Red Instead both are slogans combating the slogan “Light it up Blue” used by the organization Autism Speaks which focuses on an emphasis for a cure instead of acceptance.
Instead, the golden infinity symbol is used by the autistic and neurodivegent community as it represents the spectrum of neurodiversity and possibilities that even now are still being discovered.
April marks the start of autism acceptance month. The puzzle piece was used to represent autism but it is no longer the representation the autistic community finds the most relatable.
