@tswifterastour 🧍🏻 so… folklore destroyed me enough already but this will officially end me
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world... the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life" (1 John 2:15-16) You might say, "All people sin though." Yes, "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Rom 3:23) Everyone has sinned, and that's why everyone also dies: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom 6:23) But what does that mean: "come short of the glory of God"? It means we've fallen short of His character - His standards. When we sinned, we thought He was the kind of person with low standards like us, that would actually be okay with it, "And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man" (Rom 1:23) "These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver." (Psalm 50:21-22) And who is stronger than Almighty God? So who could ever deliver us from Him? Only He Himself can, and HE HAS! HE HAS DONE IT BY TAKING HIS OWN JUST WRATH ON HIMSELF, IN THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST: "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." (Rom 4:25) "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Rom 5:9) "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:5-6) He takes away our iniquities (our sins) so we can be saved not only from wrath, but from sin now: "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21) "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:14) He saves us from slavery to sin, so we can be servants of righteousness instead! "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin." (Rom 6:6-7) "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom 6:9-11) Because what is true about Jesus now will be true for you, if He comes to live in you by His Spirit. "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?" (Rom 2:4) "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." (2 Cor 7:10) "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:8-9) "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" (Acts 3:19 KJV) "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you," (Ezekiel 36:26-27)
