I’ve seen the many PS5 Pro dev docs, and Sony has made some interesting choices for its next console. The PS5 Pro CPU will target 3.85GHz (10% more than PS5) in a new “high CPU frequency mode.” In standard mode it’s 3.5GHz. Devs will be able to pick the mode, and also get access to 1.2GB more system memory as Sony has freed up 13.7GB on the PS5 Pro for dev use, vs. the PS5 at 12.5GB. This isn’t new info, but I can verify it’s accurate 👍
here’s everything I can verify about the PS5 Pro: theverge.com/2024/4/15/2413…
@tomwarren 10% more? That’s it? That’s not a significant increase 🤷
@tomwarren Either way, I'm still going to buy it. A 10% increase in CPU and 45% increase in GPU I'll take that. I understand they can't blow it out of the water, but I hope they do that with the PlayStation 6.
@tomwarren Kinda lame when XSX already runs @ 3.8 GHz without hyperthreading and @ 3.6 GHz with hyperthreading
@tomwarren More interesting is the ai system, frame and resolution scaling Seems like Sony will be in position to test all these ai features and refine them for both devs and players
@tomwarren Still think the PS5 pro is not needed tbh. The PS5 right now is good enough. If people want high frame rates with good graphics and etc they would go PC.
@tomwarren Doesn't seem particularly groundbreaking. Outside first party titles, will it even be used? I dont feel like we've truly optimised games for PS5 or Series X yet
