An Irishman had the last laugh at his funeral with a gag from beyond the grave that had mourners in tears of laughter. Shay Bradley organized the recording that was done in one take, over a year before the funeral to be played after his coffin was lowered to the ground
Ruth Coker Burns single-handedly buried and gave funerals to more than 40 gay men in a small town in Arkansas during the height of the AIDS epidemic, when their families wouldn't claim them. She wrote a book about it called All The Young Men. She's lived a pretty wild life so it's a good, engaging read, and she tells a lot about the individuals she worked with and those she eventually had to bury, it gives a very humanizing view of the AIDs epidemic.
