The most valuable skill I learned from Starcraft was resource management. You have limited attention, time, energy, and money. You can't have everything. Going for a rush means your economy suffers. It taught me to understand tradeoffs and opportunity costs.
You can translate this to capital allocation. Imagine 2 guys. A: Spends everything by upgrading his overall lifestyle. B: Delays gratification. Re-invests in his company and team. Builds up his emergency fund. Shit happens like market downturn or covid. Person B wins.
