Notably, the FTC's rule also touches on training repayment agreement provisions (TRAPs). These loans put workers in debt to their employers and have effects similar to non-competes, impeding worker mobility and suppressing wages.
This is a watershed moment for workers laboring under TRAPs. @FTC recognized that TRAPs function as noncompetes. Where they do, @FTC banned TRAPs outright. This is about much more than workplace training. It will help right the balance of power between workers & corporations.

The FTC rule is grounded in widely accepted notions of fairness firmly rooted in our laws. Here's what a court in the 5th circuit said about a TRAP in an @TowardsJustice, @theSBPC, and @FairWorkLaw a couple weeks ago.
According to statutory law, precedent, and historical practice, the FTC has the authority to ban non-compete clauses as an unfair method of competition. A court may now say otherwise but that is a fight worth having.
