@teachergoals I wish they would’ve let us read more what we wanted when growing up and then I think we would appreciate it a lot more but very glad to say that I have so many great reading materials and appreciate it now.
@teachergoals Exactly. My girls are readers. They won their school reading contest for most read pages 3 years in a row.
@teachergoals For World Book Day I like wrapping up the books I enjoyed as a child (THHGTTG, Carbonel, Watership Down, The Hobbit…) and giving/lending them to the class to read for a session.
@teachergoals Agreed. Stop already with the Shakespeare, Canterbury Tales, Beowulf...
@teachergoals My younger brother discovered Bum Face back in the 90s (he had not been reading and now he found his book!). It was confiscated by head teacher despite being in school library, said was inappropriate as had bum in title!. But aimed at 10 year olds. Mary Whitehouse prudery
@teachergoals My sister is a retired kindergarten teacher. She taught reading. First grade teachers would squabble over who got hers and another teacher's students because they read on 1st or 2d grade levels at the end of the year.
@teachergoals What do you do when there's Kids who hate/don't like reading?
