🧵 THREAD 1/ Your daughter posts something online. She is 19. In college. Trying to figure out what she believes. She shares a political opinion that an algorithm flags as problematic. You do not see it happen. No one notifies you. No one tells her. But 72 hours later, her bank account is frozen. Her student loans are suspended. Her digital ID shows a compliance violation. And there is nothing you can do to protect her.

I'm completely convinced at this point that the "Command Palette" is a fundamental UI concept, and should be in all applications. It should also be a built in browser concept, there should be an API for websites to push items to the command palette ("new post", "muted words" etc)

Under Albanese’s rushed "Hate Speech" legislation a radical Islamic hate preacher will have legislative protection to say; "Wherever you find them, besiege them, capture them, kill them use every stratagem, lie in wait for them on every way" But if you say; "People saying the above should be deported from Australia" or "We shouldn’t be importing people into Australia from countries who hold these values" - you will face arrest and jail. When Australia's eSafety Commissioner DEMANDS news footage be taken down - it's like deleting the crime. The crime ceased to happen in the public record. She's burning newspapers instead of books. Now take a look at WHICH crimes she chooses to censor. Not the propaganda put out by pro-Palestine. Not the BLM stuff. She is censoring the crimes of Islamic terror against the West and black-on-white violence. We are not making this distinction, the eSafety Commissioner is. When you start dictating the news cycle - you become an editor. Editors have motivations. They have a brand. They have a purpose. What is the purpose of the eSafety Commissioner's editing of the international news?
