@cufcstuff I wouldn't be overly concerned, it's just the sensible thing to do to not be shouting from the roof tops to alert other clubs and agents that we've got cash to burn to ensure we don't pay over the odds. Part of the game.

Is it not time for bookmakers to invest and prioritize improving their risk manager functionality to giving them the option to continue to let punters to bet on sports and markets under the conditions that they are comfortable with instead of restricting customers across the board. For example if an operator wishes to not take any more business from a customer on horse racing then by all means restrict the customer taking a price but I’d presume you would still be happy to lay that customer some sort of a bet at SP only or maybe you’d also be comfortable letting them take a price on group races in the hour before the race. I also expect you’d still be happy for them to have a bet on the premier league football match main markets on the day of the game. After years of restrictions being applied there must be a large number of punters to be reactivated who would embrace the opportunity to be able to bet with soft books again and willing to do so on well formed markets under the conditions that the operator is comfortable with. Invest in the capabilities and logic tied between the customer profile functionality and the risk manger system to make this possible and you might just get a march on your competitors to stop the flow to the black market. I read the Thomas Tuchel biography - Rulebreaker - from cover to cover only a few weeks ago. The guy is flawed, but undoubtedly elite. One of the top 5 coaches in the world today. Possibly the No.1 knockout match tactician. But a great coach doesn't make a great manager. And therein lies the Tuchel story. He's terrible with emotions and his people skills leave a lot to be desired. Not initially - he has effortless Play energy and makes a wonderful first impression. Great small talk, stimulating ideas and innovative coaching sessions. But once things get serious, he's over-demanding. Players accept it at first because his insight is unquestionable and he leads by example, deamding just as much of himself as anyone else. Players know he's going to get them results and make them better. Early on, they see the opportunity to achieve wonderful things in their careers. But eventually the draining effects are too much. He's exhausting. One by one, they gradually slip into vacant mode. They don't hate him necessarily. They just switch off. I say this because, weirdly, he can still get results even after the point where he has 'lost the dressing room'. His logic is that good. But emotionally, the players can't get out of second gear. The passion has seeps out of them. So two questions: 1) Is this less of a problem in international football when a coach spends much less time in the company of his players? 2) How much has he worked on his demons in the past few years? The second question is relevant because he has demonstrated a lot of self-awareness in recent years. There's a great interview on YouTube that he did at a beachside meditation retreat in India. He knows most of his shortcomings and he has the sort of personality that gets better and better with experience. And he's at the age (51) where most men mellow and stop taking life quite so seriously. Considering all of the above, I think England should appoint him if they can. 100%. He's well worth the gamble.
