Got a trip planned with stoneflies in the forecast. Can’t go wrong with a Chubby Chernobyl. There’s something about the full wings that really scratches an itch for me. What colors do you prefer for your Chubby Chernobyls?
Trying to diversify my caddis selection, so had to tie this Palomino Caddis by Cheech Pierce of Fly Fish Food. I replaced the original chenille body with foam. Can’t wait to fish these!
This BWO Emerger has found a spot in my fly box. On a recent trip on a tailwater known for picky fish, it went from a tough day on the water into a great day chasing brown trout. The fish began aggressively striking at dry flies. They are available in my Etsy shop. Link in bio!!
Got together with some guys and gals from the Bonneville Fly Fishers @FlyFishersIntl Chapter for a day of fly fishing at Blacksmith Fork Canyon. It was Browns, Caddis and Cripples.
A great time on the river fly fishing today with @strikereadyfly There were some critters out, big and small. Hooked into a monster with the Micro Real McCoy in Olive. He said not today and broke off my 6x and took the fly with him. Rylee had never been to this river, and we he saw the 24”, 26” and 28” Browns. Said I was not exaggerating
Dry fly season is here! My Etsy store has launched, and there can never be too many of these classic flies in your box. Check the link in my bio to get your hands on these fish catching machines
Had a great day on my local river. Attended a local tying event, and took these hot off the vise to the river. These thread frenchies kicked it off right and lead into a blue wing hatch. What a memorable day of fishing! #flyfishing
Had to tie up some of these all-time classic flies. The Prince Nymph was created by Doug Prince in Oakland, California in 1941. Known for the iconic “horns,” this fly stands the test of time as a fish catching machine. No fly box is complete without these classics. #flyfishing
Tying up a great midge dry fly, the Griffith’s Gnat. The original developer of the fly, George Griffith, is one of the founders of @TroutUnlimited. This small dry fly is meant to imitate clusters of midges on the surface, a high value target for hungry trout! #flyfishing
Continuing my project of re-tying flies from my early tying days. Here, a Comparadun is tied to imitate an emerging blue-wing. Can’t wait to get these out on the water!
The Purple Haze!! An often overlooked fly, but trout eyes are sensitive to light frequencies on the violet end of the spectrum, making this fly stand out amongst the crowd of mayflies. I’ll be tying these and more for the @wasatchexpoutah
