Because you live in a city where it's hard to grow food, but easier to access information and culture and be around lots and lots of people. 1% of the population grows food for 100% of the population. Before industrialization, about 80% of people grew their own food and only about 20% of the population was doing something other than farming. Also, before industrialization the average life expectancy was around 30, and half of all children died before age 5. Life is hard. Choose your hard.
@strike_dr That works very well for North Koreans, where they have a food ration, rationed by the state, and get killed for the eating the fruits that hang from trees... Socialism truly is a dream.
Me explain using simple words even gage can grasp: In beginning, many plants, few people. Million years pass. Many plants, and this important, many *people*. Plants that tasty made on industrial scale with man-made fertilizer. This not free. This cost money. Not only to grow plant, but to transport plant. Can still grow own plant, but basically have to be full time farmer to get close to feeding self all year. This not mistake. This way gage can be thing other than farmer. Gage can be moron on X not useful for anything other than complaining.
@strike_dr The capitalists hoard all the plants so that the socialists intentionally starve; you may think it’s a joke, but that’s exactly how capitalism was designed, so certain plants would only grow in certain profitable areas under license and agreement of exclusivity
@strike_dr Because we wanted to live where the food doesn't grow. Because we grew to immense population sizes.
@strike_dr One of many reasons for that is overpopulation. Overpopulation justifies massive agricultural production. Massive production justifies pyramidal-like systems -> "we're too many, how do we organize things?? We gotta have managers!!"
@strike_dr Go live in the woods. Or with the Amish.
@strike_dr Capitalism works so well people forgot how hard it is to grow food. Be proud fellow capitalists!
