Well well well, narrative is swinging back to OpenAI
Now everyone just assumes Anthropic is going to win, when it seems like OpenAI is at parity (or advantage) in model and harness quality. Sentiment swings way too wildly

Regarding the type of radicalism that Mike is against (far left) I think there's a compelling argument that it came out of the ivory tower. Sure, the internet makes propagation faster, but it's merely a tool. The ideas associated with wokeness (settler colonialism, systemic racism, repressive tolerance) came from intellelctuals like Marcuse, Freire, DiAngelo, and Kendi. The way it trickled into the mainstream was both through their teaching at universities and their work/writing as public intellectuals

Whether or not undergrads are the core mission doesn't have much bearing on the question of whether or not undergrads are being radicalized The post wasn't specific what type of college. They did say "college" rather than university, and I would suspect that Mike Solana thinks the LACs are more responsible (they have more humanities), but also they receive less federal funding compared to the research institutions which undermines the relevance of defunding.

We have multiple reasons for wanting to believe nurture is more important than nature and none for wanting to believe the opposite (unless we = the far right, which we ≠), so it's not surprising we overestimate its effect. But man are kids' personalities inborn.
