There is something beautiful about the heart of a child. A child does not spend every day worrying about how tomorrow will work out because they know there is a parent who will take care of them. They ask, they trust, they receive, and they rest in the assurance that they are loved and cared for. This is the heart Jesus invites us to have with Him. He is not asking us to figure everything out before we come to Him. He is inviting us to come as children, completely dependent on Him, trusting His wisdom, resting in His love. Just as a child finds security in knowing that their parent is there, we find our confidence in knowing that Jesus is with us. We do not have to carry the weight of life as though everything depends on us. Christ is our sufficiency, and in Him, we are safe. So, as you step into this new week, embrace the heart of a child before Jesus. Trust Him more, rest in His love, and confidently depend on Him in every situation. The Gospel is all the Gospel needs to be the Gospel. It doesn't need our performance to make it powerful. It doesn't need our works to complete what Christ has already finished. It doesn't need anything we can add to make it enough. When we hear and receive the Gospel, we are receiving the good news of what God has already accomplished for us in Christ. The Gospel carries everything it needs to reveal Jesus, His finished work, and the Grace that has been freely given to us. The Gospel does not become more complete because of what we do. A servant of Jesus is marking is birthday by teaching Jesus' people that JESUS IS NOT ENOUGH to secure their eternity. He will invalidate Jesus' atonement, Jesus' Jesus who secures saints. He will exalt sins over Jesus. He will exalt man over Jesus. He will use Jesus to undermine Jesus. These are servants of their own ego and agenda. Jesus is the AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER of our faith. He doesn't author it so we can finish it. May we not run errands of pride. May we run errands for Christ.
