High-performing teams require more than just a leader. Great teams come from great teammates. NBA champion @ShaneBattier was one of the greatest teammates to ever play professional basketball. His insights are essential for teams of all types: hubs.la/Q027hGmW0
So true yet overlooked. Experience on paper is too often overvalued compared to behavior, personality profile, capabilities, critical thinking, communication (listening, ability to ask effective & timely questions), role design & fit, integrity, values alignment, cultural fit & ability to consistently execute & ask for help, comfortable making mistakes, accountability. Such a great point! All about the team as a functioning, synergistic unit. Great content! Thx
@simonsinek @ShaneBattier That's an interesting concept. I thought bringing order and focus to the chaos around you is what helps drive growth. Adding controlled chaos into the mix to shake people out of comfort zones and keep them on their toes to drive team strong teams is good food for thought.
What is really important about great teammates is the standards they set. Behind every great leader are strong members of the team who bring the weak ones up. What I have learnt from managing a team is everyone in the team doesn’t have to be the same. Each person adds their own quirks, value and has a part to play, however big or small. It is not the parts on their own, but how they work all together, very much like ingredients in a cake.
This is great Simon! I love this. I would also call it a bit rock and roll. We don’t want milk. We don’t want all vanilla. Bland will kill your company. We need Jack-swilling pirates too! I try to encourage my staff to be a little less conservative and little more Keith Richard’s. It’s a challenge.
@simonsinek @ShaneBattier The chemistry on the court is a result of working through the chaos off the court 🤔
@simonsinek @ShaneBattier Thats why Diversity is so important in high performance team. Different views, different energy, different ways of solving tasks…they all put fuel on fire to create and maintain strong and agile organisations. 💪 😀🔝 Thoughts on that?
@simonsinek @ShaneBattier In the corporate world, what controlled chaos would be OK? Would intentional chaos cause distrust?
@simonsinek @ShaneBattier Funnily enough - my post from today. Not entirely irrelevant: x.com/stevezenn/stat…
